Danny Olmstead is the former team owner and co-manager of Olmstead Autosport, LLC. Olmstead Autosport is a sprint-car team that has finished second in series points in the 2011 season. Previous to his time with Olmstead Autosport, he was a longtime primary driver for D & D Racing Inc., competing in sprint-car racing events.
Mr. Olmstead began his career with D & D Racing in 1988 and quickly distinguished himself as a high caliber driver. In 1990, at age eighteen, he won his first major NASCAR event and became the youngest ever winner of a major NASCAR event at that time. After graduating to the Toyota Atlantic series—a step below the IndyCar series—he competed in events for Pacific Motorsports, a team owned by Argentinian John Della-Penna.
Alongside his motorsports career, Mr. Olmstead earned a bachelor of science in finance from the University of the Pacific. In addition, he has over twenty years of experience working in real estate development and redevelopment. He is currently an investor in Open Path Investments, LLC, a firm dedicated to building multifamily housing units that inspire vibrant communities and owner of East Bay Holding Co, LP. a company in the process of developing condominiums in the inner Mission district of San Francisco next to the Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
While on haitus from formally competing in the sprint cars on a regular basis Danny Olmstead enjoys riding dirt bikes at Carnegie Off Raod State Vehicle Park. He continues to be passionate about Formula One and other motorsport competitions and considers the late-great Ayrton Senna as his favorite athlete. He is always eager to help out up-and-coming young the sprint car drivers.
Olmstead will compete in the fall of 2016 in the Kara Hendrick memorial event. Kara drove for Danny’s late father at national events during thier amateur racing careers in the 1980’s.
